Blazer John. John “Jack” C. Blaser, 82, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, passed away August 20, 2025, at home. He was born February 17, 1943, in Cleveland to the late C. Walton and Mary Blaser. Jack was an avid train enthusiast- real ones and models. He had trips in recent years with the family to ride trains in Colorado, New Mexico and West Virginia. He even rode a plantation train during a family trip to Barbados. Jack was also active in area train organizations and greatly enjoyed being a part of the “MOD Squad” at area train shows. He also enjoyed home improvement projects. Jack even helped his daughter rebuild her deck and update her kitchen. It’s only been in the last year that he hasn’t been able to participate as much, but Jack was always happy to help plan, teach and supervise. Jack also had a great fondness for Pontiac cars. Riding around in his Trans AM convertible was a highlight of the summer. Survivors include his children, Sharon A. (David) Banks and John J. (Johanna) Blaser; grandchildren, Maxwell J. Porter and Grace A. (Kyle Novak) Porter; siblings, Susan (Edward) Miskovic and Keith (Diane) Blaser; cat, Peake; and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. Preceding Jack in death are his wife, Kathleen “Kathy” Blaser (nee: King) and siblings, Walton Blaser and Cathy Blaser. Family and friends will be received 10:00 a.m. – 12noon, Monday, August 25, 2025, at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, Ohio 44060. A funeral service to conclude the gathering will begin at 12 noon, at the funeral home. A private family burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland, at a later date.
