Joe was inducted into the Viking Hall of Fame on October 20, 1988.
People called him “Joe,” but he was no ordinary Joe. His Hall of Fame induction listed him as an educator, politician, comedian, promoter, fundraiser, civic booster, and basketball announcer extraordinaire.
He was widely known as the man who got things done. As Alumni Director for Saint Joe’s, he was instrumental in revitalizing the Alumni Association and establishing the St. Joseph High School Hall of Fame. For many years, if you thought of St. Joe’s, you also thought of Joe Farrell.
As a student, teacher, administrator, fundraiser, and booster, Joe was involved with our school for more than half of his shining life. In 1985 he was saluted as St. Joseph High School’s Man of the Year.
He was not only involved himself, but he also managed to get other people involved.
Joe also served for 13 years on the Euclid City Council and ran twice for the mayoral post for the City of Euclid.
Joe’s death to cancer took him from us in 2008.
