Tim was inducted into the Viking Hall of Fame on November 6, 1992.

This is a classmate who just can’t turn you down.  His induction tribute described how Tim shinnied up a 100-foot fire department ladder to snap a photo of the entire VASJ student body spelling out the school name in human form.  Sister Angela Marie had asked him.  What else could he say?

Tim has been in business continuously since graduation, mostly operating Tim Ryan Photography.  Working in this medium his been Tim’s vocation and avocation since he was in the fourth grade.

As a member of our class, Tim was also a member of the cheerleading squad, with lots to cheer for because of our successful Viking teams.  But Tim has always been leading the way.  He helped organize the very first alumni golf outing, the “Hacker’s Holiday.â€�  He has served on the Alumni Board of Directors.  He was the first official football cinematographer for the Vikings, a job he held for 25 years.  Tim helped establish the Viking Hall of Fame, but there had to be deception involved in order to provide a successful induction on his own behalf.  He would have refused any suggestion of it.

Tim has worked on every reunion held by the Class of 1961 (sometimes as the only worker on our behalf), including this one, where he has been the sparkplug for the reunion committee.

Everyone appreciates Tim’s sense of humor.  He has won the Press Club’s “Liar’s Nightâ€� competition and the Cleveland Society for Communicating arts’ “Funniest Communicatorâ€� laugh-off.  He has served on the board of each.

He ran Tim Ryan’s Pub in Cleveland Heights from 1978 to 1982, a popular watering hole for media reps and anyone who enjoyed Irish entertainment and Guinness Stout.

Tim and his wife Gretta have three children, Patrick, Mary, and Michael.
