Daugert, Robert. Tom Quinn writes: 'In 2010, I attended Bob Daugert’s funeral service. Bob, a Cleveland police officer who retired in 1993, worked for 25 years out of the 6th Police District in Collinwood whose patrol area included St. Joe’s, where Bob had sang in the glee club. He died of Lou Gehrig's disease following a prolonged and painful battle that gradually shut down his neuromuscular system over three years, leaving him paralyzed. At the end he could not even move his hands. The minister described Bob as 'bold, opinionated, stubborn and verbal.' He once had to fatally shoot a burglary suspect, according to his long-time partner. But the street-tough Bob was also described as a family man, a loving husband, and by his tearful nephew in a brief eulogy as 'like a father to me.' Bob was a car enthusiast, drove a Chevy Corvette and owned several boats.'
