Cullen, Robert (Civics). 'I had Mr. Robert Cullen for Civics,' recalls Bob Ross. 'I remember him as being a good teacher. One time he called on me and told me to stand in front of the class. He then told me to look at a painting on the wall and speak extemporaneously about it for five minutes. He was trying to help us develop our public speaking abilities. I still refer to this time when I talk to my own students about their public speaking. Many of them (these are students in Bob's classes in Taiwan, China) have not had teachers work with them on this skill.'
'I also recall him not being too fond of religion. He knew that I was in the Sodality and so he would sometimes debate this topic with me. Although we disagreed with one another, he nonetheless respected my opinions.'
