Zalokar, Henry.  Classmate Ken Maglicic tells this story about Hank: 'How to make 100 guys laugh at the same time: On about the third day of freshman football practice, Hank Zalokar came late to practice. The coach (John Broucher) asked him why he was late. Hank replied, “I was at band practice.” The coach said, “What do you want to do? Play football or play the piccolo?” Hank’s reply was, “I don’t play the piccolo.”
Classmate Bob Ross remembers Hank: 'I believe we all remember Hank's great athletic ability in football and basketball. He played on Cleveland's number one football team before we lost the final game of the season to Parma. He also helped to dominate the backboards with Norm Stih and Larry Pongonis on our undefeated basketball squad. This team went 18-0, including a thrilling season-ending game against East High (which we won thanks to some terrific shooting by Harry Waldron). The team won five more games in the Sectional, District, and Regional playoffs, before losing by three (I believe) to East Tech in the Regional Final, the winner going to Columbus for the State Finals. East Tech won the State Championship.
I also played on the St. Aloysius baseball team with Hank, along with Terry Thomas and Jim Prib. St. Joe's did not yet have a varsity baseball team. The lanky and strong Hank could really belt the long balls. May he rest in peace.'
