Classmate Ron Skrajner has this remembrance of Mr. Doyle: I remember most the tragic death of Mr. John Doyle.  He was the teacher who had the greatest impact on my life because he taught us how to achieve excellence in writing.  I was able to apply the principles he taught to other areas of my life.  I will never forget the one exercise of taking an initial essay and rewriting it numerous times until it became a masterpiece.'
