Emser, Stephen J.  Steve passed away on February 11, 2013.  We received more comments on Steve's death than we did with any other classmate who died since the 2011 reunion.  Obviously a popular classmate, Steve had been ill for a while, but still was able to join our classmates at the reunion on October of 2011.  Steve lost his spouse of 30 years, Jacqueline, not long after the reunion.
Here are some thoughts typical of the many we received.  They are from his good friend Gary Noel: 'Steve and I became good friends in grade school.  I first met him when his family moved from California to Cleveland in 1954. We both went to St. Jerome's in the 6th and 7th grade.   Curiously both our families moved to Euclid in 1956 and we were in the 8th grade together at St. Felicitas.  Our close friendship continued through high school and college.  We doubled to our senior prom.  Steve was in our wedding party.  After college  and the service, we moved on with our separate lives.  Gail and I moved to Wisconsin in 1976 and our visits to Ohio became less frequent. We did get together with Steve occasionally, but I had not seen him in more than ten years.  I am grateful that we had the opportunity to renew acquaintances and spend time with him at the reunion.  Steve knew that he was not well, but he was fighting the good fight.  May he rest in peace.'
There were many brief comments.  Here is one from classmate Joe Rigot: 'Really good guy, student, athlete and friend.'
