In 1961 St. Joseph High School sent a record 25 young men off to join the Marianists (Society of Mary) at their novitiate at Marcy, New York.  Eleven of them made first vows, and they are pictured here, along with other men from Cleveland (mostly from Cathedral Latin School, now Notre Dame Cathedral Latin).  In the first row is John Trojanski on the far right.  In the second row are Dave Pfriem on the left and next to him is John McFarlane.  At the right is Brother Dave Quigley, S.M.  In the third row is Tony Hunter (second from the right) and Father Jerry Chinchar, S.M. on the end.  In the fourth row are Fran Erne on the left.  Next to him is Joe Rigot.  On the right in that row is Don Eppink.  In the top row, second from the left, is Father Jim Heft, S.M.  Next to Jim is Tim Apolito.  It was quite a crew, and it was a pleasure to go to college with all of them and to serve in the Marianists with them.  -Dave Pfriem
