Powell, Ronald (1943-2020). Classmate Al Rhodes was among the first to remember Ron.

'I was a very good friend of Ron and the entire Powell family during our High School years..  I spent many days visiting Ron and all of  his brothers who lived on Pepper Ave.   I lived on East 139th street and, when we started high school, I would ride my bike (in good weather and bad) to Ron's house every school day and then his brother John drove us to school.   Very sad to hear of his passing.'

Tim Ryan first informed us of Ron's death: 'Considering our age, recently a lot of the news has been sad. On Father’s Day, my dear friend and classmate, Ron Powell, passed away. The attached photo (photo could not be attached to Tim's message) shows all of the guys from the Parish of St. Joseph, Collinwood, who in 1957 registered for our freshman class at St. Joe’s High School. As the photo shows, all twelve were at our Fiftieth Reunion. Unfortunately, two are not with us today. A couple of years ago, we lost Joe Morgan (Row 1 Center), and now, Ron (Row 2 Center). Ron’s wife, Sheila, their six children, their spouses, and the twenty-six grandchildren and six great-grandsons, will celebrate his life in Oak Harbor, OH (near Sandusky), where they lived. The visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. (family present 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00), with evening prayer at 7:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 27, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Boniface Church, 215 N. Church St., Oak Harbor, with interment following at Rusha Cemetery, Oak Harbor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron’s name to St. Boniface School. The family requests that those attending wear face masks. The family is conscious of covid-19 concerns and is very understanding if friends choose not to attend. Donations in Ron’s name may be made to St. Boniface School.
