Joseph E. Severino, age 74 of Niceville, FL., formerly of Willoughby, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Friday, February 3, 2017. Joe, a wonderful, big man with a big heart from a large and loving family was a beloved, husband, father/stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin. He is survived by wife, Betty; three sons, Erik (Jennifer) Joseph J. (Gloria) and John; his most beloved grandchildren, Paige, Courtney, Isabella and Kayne; brother, Larry (Nancy); sisters, Marcia (Tim) Hayek, Mary Jean (Edward) Dudas; stepchildren, Kathy Advey, and Russell Jahn; step-grandchildren, River, Sky, Jamison, and Andrew; his many nieces, nephews, and cousins adored him and all who knew him honored him as an example by which to live. Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, Frances (Zawojek) Severino and Lawrence Severino and sister, Judith Benedict (Severino).
In Ohio, Joe was a highly respected general contractor for 53 years. His company, Severino Inc., was known as a business of excellence, honesty and trustworthiness. He was a member of Rotary, Jaycees and Chambers of Commerce. For over 10 years he served on the Panel of Arbitrators for American Arbitration Association in both Ohio and Florida. He was honored to serve as a Civil Service Commissioner for the City of Willoughy, Ohio 2002-2008. He was a strong supporter of the U.S. Armed Forces to honor the service of his brother, two sons, and friends. In Florida, Joe was President of Gleneagles Green II Homeowners Association for 5 years overseeing many improvements to his community.
Joe loved golf; enjoyed the commraderie of BWB Men's Golf Assoc. and fishing (having only caught three fish). He also enjoyed biking around Bluewater Bay.
In Florida, he was a member of Knights of Columbus, and was a lector at Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Church. Joe touched many lives and will be sorely missed by all. His wish was to be cremated with interment at Plains Road Cemetery, Lakeshore Boulevard, Willoughby, Ohio.
To celebrate his life a Memorial Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Willoughby, Ohio on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. A reception to follow 1 to 4 p.m. at Villa Croatia, 34900 Lakeshore Blvd. Eastlake, Ohio.
